The Opinel N°02 is our smallest folding knife, a distinction it has held since the discontinuation of the N°01 in the 1930s. Despite its diminutive size, this knife is remarkably efficient and accompanies you wherever you go.

Constructed from Sandvik 12C27 modified stainless steel, the blade is anti-corrosive due to the addition of chrome and requires no special maintenance. With a carbon content of at least 0.40%, it offers an excellent cutting edge that is easily sharpened.

Our selection of wood is meticulously chosen to meet stringent standards for social responsibility and environmental sustainability. We source beech, hornbeam, walnut, and ash wood, among other varieties, from ecologically managed French woodlands in the Alpine region and the Jura mountains.

Ideal for minor tasks such as opening letters or cutting paper, the N°02 measures under 5 centimetres when folded; we recommend reviewing the size prior to purchase. Due to its compact design, this knife does not include the Virobloc safety ring.

1. Cleaning: After each use, clean the blade with warm, soapy water and dry it thoroughly to prevent rust. Avoid soaking the knife in water.

2. Sharpening: Regularly sharpen the blade using a whetstone or sharpening tool to maintain its cutting quality.

3. Storage: Store the knife in a dry place, preferably in a sheath, to protect the blade and handle from moisture and damage.

4. Maintenance: Periodically apply a light coat of food-safe mineral oil to the blade to enhance corrosion resistance and maintain its appearance.

5. Handle Care: The wood handle can be treated with a wood conditioner to preserve its natural beauty and prevent drying or cracking.

By adhering to these care instructions, you can ensure that your knife remains in excellent condition for years to come.
